Civil Rights Trip

Each year, students from City Neighbors High School join with several other students from area schools to embark on a week-long Civil Rights Trip.  While the trip holds different benefits for each participant, the goal is for each student to examine their connections to the struggle for civil rights, from the past to the present and beyond.

The trip begins in Baltimore and continues through multiple states throughout the deep South, making stops at key places connected to the Civil Rights Movement.  Participants visit various landmarks and interact with veterans of the movement.  Along the way, students engage in conversations and activities about issues that affect their lives as students and citizens, such as racism, educational and economic disparities, and social activism.
